If you are looking for an excellent software reading program for your children, one that you should definitely consider is the RocketReader program. Of course the company offers more than just teaching for children, but programs to increase your vocabulary and high performance reading as well. We took a look at the ease of use, features, help and support, and the ease of installation and came to the conclusion that this program is indeed an excellent one that you can trust your child’s reading skills to. So, let’s take a closer look at each of these categories and how we rated RocketReader for each one.

The Ease of Use **** stars

When it comes to the ease of use of the RocketReader program, most people find that it is fairly easy to use. You can navigate along using the buttons that you’ll find at the bottom of various windows and you’ll also find that the menu toolbar helps out as well. One thing that we found distracting is the pattern and the color of the program window, and this includes the various program alternatives offered as well. There are a few solid colors that you can choose from that don’t have patterns for the background and text. This is a bit easier on your eyes when you use a background color that is solid and a font color that contrasts well. So, for easy of use, we gave this a four out of five star rating.

The Features **** ½ stars

Take a close look at the RocketReader software proram and you’ll find that there are many great lessons, speed reading tests, tests on comprehension, and even exercises that can be used for a variety of different users. You can type in the answers for the comprehension tests or you can also use a special “guess it” option that is available, which means you have to keep track of your progress. When you use the “guess it” features, you’ll have to click on either “no” or “yes” when the program asks you if you have picked out the right word. If they just offered some multiple choice questions, it would probably be a bit easier for kids.

You’ll find that RocketReader also has many different documents in various areas like stories, science, literature, teen stories, and history, and they are designed for different age groups as well. You can even put in your own documents if you want to add some additional reading materials to the program.

For kids that are beginning readers, there is a very basic training level that really works hard with comprehending what you are reading. Also, if adults are using the program, you can use the advanced training feature, which helps adults to read more complicated texts while still having a very high comprehension level as well.

There are many tests and exercises within the RocketReader program and when they are displayed you can choose to see the whole test, a group of words, or just one word at a time. The database of words and phrases is huge as well, with about 60,000 phrases and 28,000 different words. One great feature that many parents love is that it will actually help create a progress report showing that student’s grade level, speed of reading, and their reading comprehension as well. The features are excellent, and we gave them 4.5 stars because of all the great features that come along with this program for you to use.

Help and Support ***** Stars

If you are interested in help and support offered, like most parents are, then you’ll find that this program has a lot to offer. You can contact the company on the phone or you can email them for help as well. There is also and FAQs section on the website that you can browse through to help you find the important answers to questions that you may have about the program and any problems you are having. Usually you’ll find that you’ll get answered from support in 24 hours or less.

Ease of Setup and Installation ***** Stars

It is very easy to set up and install RocketReader. It will work with many different platforms, including Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows NT. You can download the program directly from their site as well, so you don’t have to have the software mailed to you and then have to install it on your computer.

So, in the end, the RocketReader software definitely does a great job of helping with reading comprehension, fluency, speed, and a whole lot more by using great tests and exercises as well. For kids and adults alike, this program can be used to teach and hone reading skills. After taking a close look at everything this program has to offer, we gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars, and it’s definitely a program well worth purchasing for use in your home.
